When you short or long sell a currency, stock or commodity using options, does it expire worthless at all?
I am trying to learn about the different things you can do to make money using options, i.e. Short-Selling, Long-Selling, Puts & Calls, etc. I know that Puts & Calls expire worthless. What I'd like to know is when you short-sell; bet it will go down, or long-sell; bet it will go up a currency, stock or commodity does it at all expire worthless if you do it?
The only investment vehicle that can expire worthless is an out of the money option - either call or put. The base stock, future, or currancy does not expire.
