What controls the speedometer on a 2006 Chevrolet Impala LT?
Mine started acting strange today. I was going about 20 mph then it jumped to 40, then down to 0, but I was still going 20. The tachometer showed 900 rpms but I know it was going faster.

The instrument cluster (new name for speedometer) gets its information from the PCM (engine computer). It sends the digital data along a data bus up to the panel. There are a few TSBs on the panel and the wiring harness. If it's still under warranty, contact Chevy. If you're going to tackle this yourself, get copies of the TSBs.
