how do i get a title for a jet ski i bought when no one knows the original owner?
We have no paper work on this and do not know the original owner.
Well first you'll need to research the history of the ski. If it was ever registered in your state or any other. I'd say the first step would be to check through your state and local police departments to see if they have any record of it. If they don't they can at least tell you how to proceed to find any record of it. There are also services that you can hire that will perform the search for you. If that doesn't reveal the owner then you need to look into having the ski declared as abandoned. Once again different localities, states and countries have different ways and times to accomplish this. Once it's declared abandoned you can set about salvaging it and claiming it for your own. Just realize that if it is stolen, you will find who owned it and you will be required to return it.
